About Sandwich MA
Sandwich was settled in 1637 and incorporated in 1639, which makes it the oldest town on Cape Cod, a title it shares with Yarmouth. You can feel that history in town, from the Hoxie House, often called the oldest house on the Cape, to the Dexter Grist Mill and the Sandwich Friends Meetinghouse.
Sandwich is also famous for glass. The Boston and Sandwich Glass Company opened here in 1825 and became known for its colored glass, a story the Sandwich Glass Museum tells beautifully. The town is still widely known for its antique shops, art galleries and unique gift stores, and with Shawme-Crowell State Forest and the Cape Cod Canal close by, there's plenty of room to get outside.
